[SIZE=“2”]WARRIOR SOUL’s ‘Chinese Democracy’ Due In October - Sep. 5, 2008[/SIZE]

WARRIOR SOUL, the band fronted by legendary singer Kory Clarke, is the latest act to announce (jokingly or not) that it has selected “Chinese Democracy” — the name of the perennially delayed new GUNS N’ ROSES LP — as the title of its new album. The CD will be available exclusively at shows on WARRIOR SOUL’s forthcoming U.S. tour, which begins on October 16 at the Double Door in Chicago, Illinois.

WARRIOR SOUL’s “Chinese Democracy” will receive its retail release in January. UK fans will also have an opportunity to buy the album at shows during WARRIOR SOUL’s UK tour in December.

This is the first WARRIOR SOUL studio album to include the new lineup featuring;

Kory Clarke - Vocals
Rille Lundell - Guitar
Johnny H - Guitar
Janne Jarvis - Bass
Rob “Stevo” Stephenson - Drums

Recorded and written over a five-week period in Stockholm, Sweden and in the UK, WARRIOR SOUL’s “Chinese Democracy” was produced by Clarke, Lundell and Jarvis.

Stated Clarke: “I’m really proud of this album. It’s been great to make another WARRIOR SOUL record and this line up is the best I’ve ever had.” He continued, “People have been waiting for a long time to hear this record and I’m thrilled to finally release ‘Chinese Democracy’.”

Co-producer and bassist Janne Jarvis had this to say: “This is an exciting, vital collection of songs. It’s unadulterated and uncompromising. It is essential WARRIOR SOUL.”

Songtitles set to appear on WARRIOR SOUL’s “Chinese Democracy” include “Motor City”, “Bad News (Rock ‘n’ Roll Boyfriend)”, “Fuck The Pigs” and “No Respect”.

WARRIOR SOUL’s current lineup has successfully toured Europe over the last two years and reports from both fans and media suggest that this is the band’s strongest formation yet.

Video footage of WARRIOR SOUL performing the song “Let’s Get Wasted” at Ace of Clubs in New York City on May 31, 2008 can be viewed below. The show marked WARRIOR SOUL’s first American concert in twelve years.

WARRIOR SOUL released a live album on April 14, 2008 through Livewire/Cargo Records. Entitled “Live In England”, the CD was recorded in London during the band’s October 2007 tour.

“Live In England” features many of the classic songs from the “Last Decade Dead Century”, “Drugs, God And The New Republic”, “Salutations From The Ghetto Nation”, “Space Age Playboys” and “Chill Pill” albums as well as a brand new song entitled “Bad News (Rock ‘n’ Roll Boyfriend)”.

DIMMU BORGIR frontman Stian Tomt Thoresen’s (a.k.a. Shagrath) wedding to actor Nicolas Cage’s 41-year-old ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday (September 20) in a private sunset ceremony at the world-renowned Prekestolen in Norway, has been postponed indefinitely.

“We both have very hectic schedules, with Christina’s upcoming reality show and [DIMMU BORGIR’s] new DVD, which is coming out this fall. There was simply too much going on at the same time,” Thoresen, 31, tells the Norwegian newspaper VG.

A new date for the wedding has not yet been set, but Thoresen insists that the couple is still planning a big ceremony. They will be married in both the U.S. and Norway, and plans are still afoot for a spectacular wedding at Prekestolen.

“We will probably have a small wedding in the United States, but we will still get married at Prekestolen, with close friends and family members present,” the singer tells VG. “And then the the party will take place at another location.”

According to Thoresen, his two bands — DIMMU BORGIR and CHROME DIVISION (in which he plays guitar) — will both perform at the party, which will be attended by several hundred guests.

When asked if the weather conditions at Prekestolen will affect their wedding plans, particularly as the temperatures continue to drop throughout the fall and the winter, Thoresen replies, “We might have a winter wedding. But in any case, the weather won’t stop us. We are not your typical, normal people, Christina and I,” laughs Thoresen.

Thoresen and Fulton met six months ago through one of the singer’s associates. According to the couple, it was love at first sight. (Ναιιιιιιιι)

Rock and roll gun-slinger Ted Nugent is offering to provide personal security for rock and roll animal rights activist Sir Paul McCartney.

McCartney has been threatened by Muslim extremists if he plays a concert in Israel to celebrate Israel’s 60th birthday.

“Regardless that Paul and I have our obvious social, cultural, and culinary differences outside of music, I will not bend or waiver to voodoo religious whackjobs and neither should Paul,” exclaimed Nugent.

Nugent, an NRA Board of Director member, has trained extensively with military specialists and various law enforcement agencies for over 30 years. “It would be my pleasure to keep this legendary musical hero safe from terrorists and madmen, and then buy him a nice dinner of tofu,” said Nugent.

Here?s the latest update from SOILWORK regarding the return of Peter Wichers:

"Dear SOILWORK fans,

The past two years have been great although sometimes a bit turbulent. We made another killer album and did several amazing tours around the world; and today it is with sheer joy and excitement that we announce the return of Peter Wichers as a guitarist in SOILWORK. He?s been missed both as a bandmate and as a songwriter. We know that we can come back even stronger, and it definitely gives us a feeling of inspiration and completion to have Peter, one of the founders of SOILWORK, come back to the fold. We feel that we can look into the future with greater confidence and musical creativity. Having Peter back will complete the circle and the final line up of the band.

This also marks Daniel Antonsson?s departure from SOILWORK as Peter?s replacement since 2006. We are really grateful for Daniel?s excellent work and he will be missed. However, to us it?s ideal for Peter to fulfill his former duties as a songwriter and guitarist. Going separate ways with Daniel is not an easy decision for us to make, but it?s the right one. We wish Daniel the best of luck and many great things with his other band DIMENSION ZERO! Rock on Daniel!!!

As we previously announced, Dirk?s bandmate in SCARVE, Sylvain Coudret, has been doing session work for us throughout the Summer and shredding on second guitar. Therefore we?re taking this opportunity to confirm Sylvain as a permanent guitar player for SOILWORK. Since we?re big fans of SCARVE, we know Sylvain will make a great addition to the songwriting process for the next SOILWORK album.

Peter?s return to SOILWORK will begin on stage with the upcoming European tour.

"Dear Fans of SOILWORK,

Let me first of all say that I?m incredibly grateful for all the amazing feedback and support that I?ve received since my departure from SOILWORK almost three years ago.

When I left SOILWORK I was at a place in my life where I felt burnt out on touring and I needed to get my life into a more stable situation. I needed to do something other than SOILWORK, perhaps explore more diverse styles of songwriting and musical journeys. Therefore, over the past few years, I?ve been very focused on production, songwriting and family, and have had the privilege to work with some amazing artists on some really cool and rewarding projects.

During my time away from the band, my good friend Bjorn “Speed” and I had always kept in touch and maintained a great friendship. We recently spoke about working on a possible musical collaboration, and that?s when we started toying with the idea of me perhaps returning to SOILWORK. I needed some time to think about it, but after careful consideration I?ve decided that I still have tons of enthusiasm and creativity to contribute to SOILWORK. I have a lot of love for my brothers in the band, and I would of course be honored to once again share the stage with the greatest metal band in the world! So it is with great honor that I now announce my return and 110% commitment to SOILWORK. I guarantee that we?ll bring forth one hell of a show and write the best album in SOILWORK?s career.

Reactivated New Jersey metallers WHIPLASH are in the final stages of recording their long-awaited anticipated CD, “Pitbulls In The Playground”, due in early 2009 followed by a summer tour. Portaro reunites with former drummer Joe Cangelosi once again after 19 years for their latest studio effort, which is being produced by founding member Tony Portaro who recently completed his studies with Rick VanBenschoten and Susan Nuziata at NYU.

Portaro remained the pillar of the band while the lineup went through many changes over the course of their six full-length CDs, including “Cult Of One” in 1996 and “Sit Stand Kneel Prey” in 1997. During that time, Cangelosi supplied the drumming on “Cause For Conflict” for Germany’s premier thrash band KREATOR, which was released in 1995. Portaro handled the guitar work for Billy Milano’s M.O.D. on a European tour in early 1998 with drummer Tony Scaglione, inviting the return of the original WHIPLASH lineup for a reunion CD entitled “Thrashback”.

Portaro comments: "We owe this long-awaited breath of fresh new material to our fans. WHIPLASH stays true to their roots with the power-thrash riffs and double bass that broke us into the industry.

WHIPLASH is a three-piece power trio hailing from New Jersey. The band was assembled back in 1984 when Tony Portaro and Tony Scaglione joined forces, recruited Tony Bono on bass and released their first CD, “Power and Pain”, in 1985 on Roadrunner Records. The debut CD was followed up by their first live performance at Ruthie’s in Berkley, California with POSSESSED and DEATH ANGEL.

Αν θυμάμαι καλά, δεν ήταν ο Cangelosi αλλά ο Tony Scaglione (o ντράμμερ που έπαιζε στο ντεμπούτο των Whiplash) που είχε πάει στους Slayer. Και o ίδιος ο Scaglione συνέστησε στους Whiplash τον Cangelosi ως αντικαταστάτη του. Τώρα γιατί ο Scaglione δεν έκατσε στους Slayer δεν το ξέρω σίγουρα, ίσως επειδή ο Lombardo επέστρεψε πολύ γρήγορα. Όλα αυτά κάπου το 1987 πρέπει να έγιναν.

Pelican robbed on tour.

Hey Everyone,

Our otherwise excellent tour of Europe hit a severe stroke of bad luck this week. Two days ago we had a spare half hour to spend in Rome before heading to the venue, so we decided to go see the Coliseum. We parked nearby and went to take a brief twenty minute walk around the area. When we returned to our van we found that it had been broken into, despite being parked on a major street in broad daylight. Four bags were stolen, the contents including computers, passports, wallets, ipods, our soundguy’s microphone collection, and, most devastatingly, a number of personal journals and two portable recording devices containing hours of song ideas that are now lost forever.

The calculated loss of this theft is several thousands of dollars. Unfortunately our band only earns us a very meager living and some of us are already in the hole from years of trying to make a living as musicians. This incident therefore poses a devastating loss and puts us in a very compromised financial position. Although we realize that there is a worldwide financial crisis going on, if there are those of you who have the means and desire to help out our gratitude would run deeper than words could express.
