Ό,τι και να πω είναι λίγο. Τελειότητα. Κερδίζει στα σημεία το Great Misdirect (άλλη δισκάρα). Η λέξη έπος είναι λίγη για κομμάτια σαν τα Sun of Nothing, Ants of The Sky, White Walls.
3. Transatlantic - The Whirlwind
Αν και είναι πολύ νωρίς για να κάνω συνολική εκτίμηση, μάλλον το καλύτερο άλμπουμ κλασσικού old school prog της δεκαετίας. Απίστευτη παραγωγή.
4. Pain of Salvation - Be
Άλλος αχταρμάς από’δω. Δικαιολογείται εύκολα το ότι δεν άρεσε σε μεγάλη μερίδα των οπαδών της μπάντας. Η live εκτέλεσή του είναι ΑΠΙΣΤΕΥΤΗ.
5. Scale The Summit - Carving Desert Canyons
Στο μυαλό μου ο δίσκος φέρει την ταμπέλα adventurous proggy METAL. Αν και κουράζει εύκολα όσους δεν αντέχουν instrumental υλικό.
6. Converge - Jane Doe
Ε δεν χρειάζεται να πω κάτι. Το βασίλειό μου για λάιβ εκτελέσεις των Homewrecker και Heaven In Her Arms.
7. Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place

8. Α Wilhelm Scream - Mute Print
Απ’όσα έχω υπόψη μου, καμία hardcore punk μπάντα δεν παίζει σαν αυτούς. Αξιοθαύμαστες παικτικές ικανότητες, γαμάτα φωνητικά, ντάξει, το 'χω λιώσει.
9. Portishead - Third
Δεν τον αφομοίωσα τόσο εύκολα όσο το Dummy, αλλά άξιζε την κάθε ακρόαση. Στοιχειωτικό.
10. Αvenged Sevenfold - City of Evil
Άμα είχα ακούσει τον δίσκο την εποχή που βγήκε σήμερα θα έπαιζα κιθάρα. :x
ΟΛΑ κομματάρες. Είναι εντυπωσιακό το πώς από το metalcore των προηγούμενων κυκλοφοριών φτάσανε σε αυτό το υπέροχο κράμα heavy metal και GnR αισθητικής.
11. Shinedown - The Sound of Madness
Όταν ΟΛΑ τα κομμάτια ενός δίσκου μπορούν να γίνουν υπεράνετα singles, δεν χρειάζεται να πούμε κάτι άλλο. Μόνο για την φωνάρα του τύπου.
12. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
ΟΚ, χάνει απ’το Calculating Infinity στα σημεία, αλλά ακόμα θυμάμαι πώς το μπάσιμο με Panasonic Youth & Sunshine The Werewolf με έστειλε αδιάβαστο.
13. God Is An Astronaut - All Is Violent, All Is Bright
Επί τέσσερις μήνες το άκουγα όποτε η μέρα ήταν βροχερή, δηλαδή σχεδόν κάθε μέρα (φθινόπωρο γαρ).
14. Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
ΟΚ μπορεί να μη βγάλανε δίσκους αντάξιους των Scenes From A Memory ή Images and Words για τον πολύ κόσμο, αλλά τούτο 'δω και τα δύο επόμενα (TOT & Octavarium) είναι εξίσου δισκάρες για μένα. Στο νήμα καλύτερο το SDOIT από το Octavarium (του οποίου μ’αρέσουν όλα τα κομμάτια, παρεμπιπτόντως) λόγω του ομώνυμου έπους, το οποίο θεωρώ το καλύτερο κομμάτι που έχουν γράψει. Και οι άλλοι πέντε “βαθμοί” είναι κομματάρες.
15. Muse - Absolution
Πάντα μου φαινόταν ένα κλικ καλύτερο από το Origin of Symmetry. Τι να λέμε, διδάσκουν πώς παίζεται το rock στα 00s. Και περιέχει το αγαπημένο μου κομμάτι τους (Butterflies and Hurricanes).
16. Linkin Park - Meteora
Απ’όλους τους δίσκους της λίστας, είναι αυτός που έχω ακούσει τις περισσότερες φορές (στο γυμνάσιο για τρία χρόνια τον έλιωνα), μέχρι φυσικά να τον περάσει κάποιος άλλος μια και έχω να τον ακούσω πολύ καιρό. Όλα του τα κομμάτια είναι ένα κι ένα, εκτός του Numb, που δε θα με χάλαγε καθόλου αν το’χαν κόψει και ο δίσκος τελείωνε με το Session. Τα Hit The Floor και Easier To Run τα’χουν ξεχάσει κι οι ίδιοι. Ο δίσκος είναι ευαγγέλιο για το πώς να γράφεις hits, με αρνητικό σημείο τους εντελώς κλισέ στίχους (εκτός του Breaking The Habit). Κρίμα που ακολούθησαν τόσο καθοδική πορεία έκτοτε.
17. Slipknot - Vol.3: The Subliminal Verses
Παλιότερα προτιμούσα το ομώνυμο ως καλύτερο της μπάντας αλλά πλέον το Vol.3 το εκθρόνισε. Όλα τα κομμάτια (ακόμα και τα μπόνους!) είναι υπέροχα, με προσωπικά αγαπημένη στιγμή το Circle. Αλλά διάολε, ακόμα και το Prelude είναι γαμάτο!
18. Mastodon - Leviathan
Ε και το Blood and Thunder να’χε μόνο …
19. Cancer Bats - Hail Destroyer
Rock 'n roll!
20. Ι Killed The Prom Queen - Music For The Recently Deceased
Δικό μου κόλλημα.
Προφανώς αφήνω απ’έξω κόσμο και κοσμάκη (Tool, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead …) αλλά ίσως γίνουν έντιτς. Απ’την άλλη, βλέποντας συνοπτικά την προεπιλογή μου, μέσα σ’αυτή αυτά είναι μάλλον τα 20 δίσκια που έλιωσα περισσότερο (αν φυσικά πάρουμε ένα από κάθε μπάντα καθώς των Theater τα’χω λιώσει περισσότερο απ’τα αντίστοιχα των PoS πχ.).
Πάγκους και τέτοια δεν φτιάχνω.
