Μετά από ένα ατύχημα στη σκηνή, ο Eddie Riggs λιποθυμά και μεταφέρεται σε ένα κόσμο όπου όλα τα εξώφυλλα των δίσκων heavy metal που ξέρει ζωντανεύουν. Εκεί ο σατανικός αυτοκράτορας Doviculus και ο δαιμονικός στρατός του «The Tainted Coil» έχουν σκλαβώσει τους εναπομείναντες ανθρώπους.
Η αντίσταση με αρχηγούς τον Lars Halford και την αδελφή του Lita, αλλά και τη μυστηριώδη Ophelia χρειάζεται απελπισμένα κάποιον ηγέτη.
Δράση και μάχες ? Το gameplay του Brütal Legend είναι γεμάτο δράση και επικές μάχες. Είτε χρησιμοποιείτε το τεράστιο πλατύστομο τσεκούρι, γνωστό και ως The Separator, είτε την Clementine ? την κιθάρα του Eddie ? οι μάχες ποτέ δεν θα είναι ίδιες.
