Η μόνη ένσταση είναι ότι δεν μπορεί μια μπάντα 60+ να πιάσει το feeling των άγουρων Metallica.

Π.χ. στο whiplash, πλέον δεν το πιάνουν ούτε οι ίδιοι οι Metallica.

Xμμ, δεν έχει τύχει να ακούσω κανένα από τα παραπάνω κομμάτια των Saxon ίσως γιατί η πλειοψηφία τους ανήκει σε δίσκους που κυκλοφόρησαν στα μέσα με τέλη 80s και που τους ψιλοθαβουν οι “τρου” μεταλλαδες, ότι είναι κάπως φλωρικοι. Υποψιάζομαι ότι θα μου αρέσουν πάνω από τα μισά της λίστας!

Αντίθετα υπάρχουν αρκετές μέτριες στιγμές στους δίσκους της τελευταίας δεκαπενταετίας, όχι απαραίτητα κακά κομμάτια αλλά αδιάφορα.

Αν έχεις οποιοδήποτε ενδιαφέρον για το μελωδικό, εμπορικό hard rock της εποχής (στα όρια του AOR σε στιγμές), τσέκαρε σίγουρα τα mid με late 80s των Saxon, θα βρεις ωραία πραγματάκια.

H λίστα έχει τραγούδια που δεν υπάρχουν, τραγούδια από λάθος δίσκους, γενικά Artificial Stupidity.

Εγώ σχεδόν απορρίπτω τα 3 τελευταία των 80’s (σχεδόν).

Fun fact, όταν είχα κερδίσει το meet and greet πριν 8(!) χρόνια στο Μαντσεστερ, ήταν δίπλα μου ένας τύπος από το Barnsley.

Μπαίνει ο Λαρς, αρχίζει να ρωτάει τον καθένα από που είναι, λέει ο τύπος με τη Γιορκσ(ά)ιρ προφορά Μπαρνζλι, επαναλαμβάνει ο Λαρς “Μπάρνσλει”, “Μπαρνζλι” ο άλλος, προσπαθεί ο Λαρς να πιάσει την προφορά. Με τα πολλά το ρωτάει ο Λαρς ξες ποια μπάντα είναι από εκεί; Η αγαπημένη μου, οι Saxon (Sack-sun). Φυσικά του λέει ο άλλος, και εμένα αγαπημένοι μου είναι οι Saxon (Saks’n). Round 2 διαγωνισμού προφοράς και όλοι κάτω από τα γέλια.

Από που είμαι ρώτησε—κλασσικά—σαν ice breaker, μου είπε ότι θυμόταν τις 4 φορές στην Αθήνα (το θυμόταν όντως, μου είπε και χρονολογίες και περιέγραψε τη Ριζούπολη και το χωράφι - το τελευταίο μάλιστα με πολύ καλά σχόλια). Του έδωσα 2 dvd σα δώρο ελληνικές ταινιες (Κυνόδοντα που τον είχε ακουστά αλλά δεν τον είχε δει και το Βασιλιά του Γραμματικού), πιάσαμε λίγο κουβέντα για το ταινιες μας άρεσαν εκείνη τη χρονιά, με ρώτησε τι τραγούδι περιμένω να ακούσω σήμερα και του λέω Dyers Eve και γελάσαμε, λέει ίσως κάποια άλλη φορά. Και λίγο κουβέντα για το Orion Festival και αν θα το έφερναν στην Ευρώπη κάποια στιγμή.
Είμασταν καμιά 15αρια και σίγουρα πέρασε 3-4 λεπτά με τον καθένα.

Εμενα μου την καλυτερεψε παντως απειρα, αφου μπορεσα μεσα σε λιγοτερο απο 2 λεπτα να απαντησω στις τρολλιες του Παντελη πληρως ικανοποιητικα, χωρις να χρειαστει να ακουσω ουτε νοτα Σαξον.
