Aπό τις επιδραστικότερες αναμφίβολα, αμερικανικές μπάντες του ακραίου ήχου με έδρα στο Μεγάλο Μήλο ( N.Y.H.C. bands ) που ανανέωσε το old school του ιδιώματος, προτείνοντας ένα καθαρόαιμο μεταλικό πανκ, ενθαρρύνοντας ουκ ολίγες μπάντες (που κάποια στη συνέχεια, γίναν μπαντάρες!!) του χώρου (ή σκηνής χάρντκορ) προς στη κατεύθυνση του new school of hardcore music. Στιχουργικά, στέκονται ενάντια στις καταχρήσεις, στα ναρκωτικά, στο αλκοόλ -υιοθετώντας έναν straight edge τρόπο ζωής.
