O Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) Ιρλανδος στη καταγωγη,ειναι ενας απο τους μεγαλυτερους συγγραφεις ολων των εποχων.Υπηρξε ο κυριοτερος εκπροσωπος του αισθητισμου.Εκτος ομως απο το συγγραφικο του ταλεντο,αυτο που κυριως τον εκανε γνωστο ηταν ο εξαιρετικα ιδιορρυθμος χαρακτηρας του.Ενας μεγαλος δανδης της εποχης του (τελος Βικτωριανης Εποχης) αλλα και της δικης μας εποχης.Θα μπορουσες να τον δεις να περιπλανιεται στις γειτονιες με μια μακρια μυστηριωδη μαυρη καπα,μπαστουνακι,ημιψηλο καπελο και ενα υφος επαρσης και σιγουριας.Οι αποψεις του ειναι τοσο προχωρημενες που σοκαρουν ακομη και σημερα.Πολλοι τον ειπαν ψωνιο και αλλαζονα.Και ηταν.Πολυ μεγαλη ψωναρα.Αλλα ισως και να ναι ο μονος που εχει δικιο σε οσα εχει πει και υποστηριξει.Μια ιδιοφυια που ομοια της δεν υπηρξε ποτε.Κατι αλλο που συγκλονισε τοτε τη κοινη γνωμη ηταν το θεμα της ομοφυλοφιλιας του.Παρ’οτι ηταν παντρεμενος και ειχε αποκτησει παιδια με τη γυναικα του,δε διστασε να κανει γνωστες τις ερωτικες του προτιμησεις σε μια χωρα που τοτε απαγορευε κατι τετοιο.Μπηκε στη φυλακη για 2 χρονια οπου και αρχισαν τα προβληματα με την υγεια του.Οταν αποφυλακιστηκε,εζησε την υπολοιπη ζωη του απομονωμενος απο τον κοινωνικο περιγυρο χωρις να σταματα ποτε να γραφει.
