Για την σημαία τώρα (αλλά και την χρήση της από μουσικούς) διαβάστε τι γράφει η wikipedia είναι νομίζω αρκετά κατατοπιστικό για να μην μπερδεύεται κανείς:
The display of the Confederate flag remains a highly controversial and emotional topic, generally because of disagreement over the nature of its symbolism. White southerners often see the flag as merely a symbol of southern culture, a “country music flag” without any political or racial connotation. An example of this would be the Bocephus Rebel Flag often sold at concerts performed by country music star Hank Williams, Jr., heavy metal band Pantera, and southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. For some, the flag represents only a past era of southern sovereignty.[19] Some historical societies such as the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the United Daughters of the Confederacy also use the flag as part of their symbols. Also some rockabilly fans hold the Confederate flag as their emblem. The flag has also been used as a symbol of generalized working-class masculinity, suggesting rowdy rebelliousness, and detached from any intended historical, Southern regional, or racial significance, although almost always in a white context, such as construction workers in Montreal[20]. It is even frequently used in Alberta and Quebec in Canada because of the two provinces support of the Confederacy.[21]
As a result of these varying perceptions, there have been a number of political controversies surrounding the use of the Confederate flag in Southern state flags, at sporting events, at Southern universities, and on public buildings. According to Civil War historian and native Southerner Shelby Foote, the flag traditionally represented the South’s resistance to Northern political dominance; it became racially charged during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s, when fighting against desegregation suddenly became the focal point of that resistance.
Symbols of the Confederacy remain a contentious issue across the United States and have been debated vigorously in many Southern state legislatures over their civic placement since the 1990s.
Οι Allman Brothers (που ιστορικά είχαν και μαύρα μέλη και δημοκρατικές απόψεις) ποτέ δεν χρησιμοποίησαν αυτή τη σημαία και είμαι πολύ χαρούμενος για αυτό. Aπό την άλλη, για τους λόγους που αναφέρονται και πιό πάνω ας μην τρελαινόμαστε πως οποιοσδήποτε την χρησιμοποιούσε είναι και καλά ρατσιστής, φασίστας κλπ.
Γενικως συμφωνω μ’ αυτα που παραθετει ο Mule για τη σημαια, και για τους Αllman. H xρηση της συγκεκριμενης ειναι περιεργη. Παντως σαν Τεξανοι θα μπορουσαν να χρησιμοποιουν τη σημαια του Τεξας και οχι την ομοσπονδη του Νοτου. Μαλλον γιατι οι 3 ηταν Τεξανοι κι ο ενας απο τη Nεα Ορλεανη.
Οι Pantera δε νομιζω οτι ηταν φασιστες, ομως ο Ανσελμο πιστευω οτι ως πυροβολημενο βλημα εγινε. Ιδου, απο το ιματζ φαινεται οτι ειναι απο τις τελευταιες χρονικα περιοδειες τους:
Eγώ πιστεύω πως μπάντες του νότου σαν τους Allman,Lynyrd δεν μπορεί να είναι ρατσιστές και να μιλάνε συνεχώς για μαύρους bluesmen που ακούγανε από μικροί.Οι skynyrd πάντως έχουν πει επανειλημένα πως γουστάρουν τον νότο,γουστάρουν την πατρίδα τους και δεν έχω πρόβλημα με αυτό.Κι εγώ γουστάρω την πατρίδα μου με τα καλά και τα στραβά της αλλά δεν πιστεύω πως με κάνει ρατσιστή αυτό…
Koίτα, για τους Allmans τα πράγματα είναι πολύ ξεκάθαρα, είχαν/έχουν μάυρα μέλη, δεν χρησιμοποίησηαν τη σημαία της συνομοσπονδίας και πρόσφατα εκφράστηκαν ανοιχτά υπέρ της υποψηφιότητας Ομπάμα και έπαιξαν και συναυλία υποστήριξης.
Με τους Skynyrd τα πράγματα περιπλέκονται λίγο, όχι τόσο λόγω της συστηματικής χρήσης της σημαίας (που πιστεύω πως έχει καθαρά να κάνει με την διακήρυξη “τοπικής ιδιαιτερότητας” όπως αναφέρει η wikipedia), όσο με το γεγονός πως ένιωσαν την ανάγκη να “απαντήσουν” στον Neil Young με το Sweet Home Alabama και με κάποιους συγκεκριμένους στίχους σε αυτό. To Southern Man του Νeil Young κατηγορεί ξεκάθαρα τις ρατσιστικές νοοτροπίες που υπάρχουν -και υπήρχαν ακόμα πιό έντονα παλιότερα- στον νότο και όχι τον νότο γενικά (άλλωστε έχει διασκευαστεί live και από νότιους καλλιτέχνες όπως οι Gov’t Mule και οι Drive by Truckers ).
Oι Skynyrd αναλαμβάνοντας να “απαντήσουν” σε “αυτόν τον Καναδό που τα έχωσε στον νότο γενικά” έγραψαν μεταξύ άλλων τον στίχο:
“In Birmingham they love the Governor
Well, we did all we could do”
Το Birmingham είναι η μεγαλύτερη πόλη της Alabama, και ο Governor ο George Wallace που ήταν δηλωμένος οπαδός του “φυλετικού διαχωρισμού”.
Ο στίχος τι λέει λοιπόν; Toν αγαπάνε οι ψηφοφόροι του, τι να κάνουμε; Όλα καλά στον νότο, ζήτω ο νότος;
Σϊγουρα άστοχος στίχος που έμμεσα δικαιώνει τον Neil Young…
Για να μην παρεξηγηθούν αυτά που γράφω: Δεν θεωρώ τους Skynyrd ρατσιστές. Απλά πιστεύω πως προερχόμενοι από το συγκεκριμένο background του νότου, δυσκολεύονταν να καταδικάσουν τον ρατσισμό όσο ανοιχτά και κατηγορηματικά θα έπρεπε και αντιδρούσαν “αμυντικά” όταν το έκανε αυτό ο Neil Young.
Δεν διαφωνώ.Πάντως λέγεται(αν ξέρεις καλύτερα πες μου)πως το γράψανε για πλάκα.Και δήλωναν και οπαδοί του Young.Θα θυμάσαι το μπλουζάκι του Van Zant με το Tonight’s the night του Neil Young,ε?
Δεν ξέρω αν το γράψανε για πλάκα, πάντως είναι σίγουρο πως οι σχέσεις τους μαζί του δεν ήταν ψυχρές, μάλλον υπήρχε αλληλοεκτίμηση και είχε γίνει και κουβέντα να παίξουν μαζί live, κάτι που φέρεται να ήθελε και ο ίδιος ο Young
Δεν πολυπαίζει, αφού κατά δήλωση της γυναίκας του (πάλι… :roll::lol:) ο μπουμπούκος της την εκνευρίζει γιατί ενώ αυτή ακούει κλασική μουσική αυτός ακούει από δίπλα Ρουβά! :lol::lol:#-o
