RIOT’s ‘Thundersteel’ Lineup To Tour Europe In June

The 1988 “Thundersteel” lineup of RIOT has reformed and is planning on hitting the road in Europe in June 2009. A new studio album featuring the same musicians is also in the works.

As previously reported, RIOT has been confirmed for next year’s Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 3-6, 2009 in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

RIOT 2009 lineup:

Paul Cashmere at Australia’s Undercover.com has issued the following update:

139,666,000 rock albums sold in the USA during the past year, fuelled in part by AC/DC, METALLICA and KID ROCK. AC/DC was the biggest rock act of the year selling 3,418,000 albums in the past 12 months.

While all genres were down in sales for '08, the rock categories fell the least.

Alternative sold 80,919,000 this past year while Metal albums accounted for 50,476,000 sales. Neilsen SoundScan breaks genres into 12 categories.

The biggest selling genres were:

  1. Rock (139,666,000)
  2. Alternative (80,919,000)
  3. R&B (77,014,000)
  4. Metal (50,476,000)
  5. Country (47,657,000)
  6. Rap (33,410,000)
  7. Christian (29,793,000)

Το όνομα του δίσκου είναι The West Pole και αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει τον Απρίλη 2009.

Wolves In The Throne Room return with Black Cascade

Avant black metal outfit Wolves In The Throne Room have completed work on their latest album, Black Cascade. The band?s third full-length, the follow-up to 2007?s acclaimed Two Hunters, was produced by the ubiquitous Randall Dunn and is scheduled for a late March release. The album will be preceded by a limited edition picture disc entitled Malevolent Grain on Conspiracy Records.
