METALLICA PERFORMING AT BRIDGE SCHOOL BENEFIT CONCERT
Does two acoustic gigs in our hometown mean that we’re sick of the studio again? Nah…not really…but we are honored that we have been invited to appear at the annual Bridge School Benefit concerts. Held on October 27 and 28, 2007 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, this will be our second time participating in the all acoustic shows, and the 21st year that the benefit has been held in the Bay Area.
As usual, the line-up is stellar and we’re looking forward to seeing Tom Waits, Eddie Vedder (with Flea & Jack Irons), John Mayer, of course Neil Young, and others perform those days.
Started by Neil and Peggy Young, the Bridge School is a non-profit organization assisting individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities and is an internationally recognized leader in the education of children who use augmentative and alternative communication. The annual benefit concerts provide the majority of the funding for the school’s operation.
Just when you thought the ‘dogging’ phenomenon was over, one of the popular tabs today is reporting that drumming stud Tommy Lee, whose genitals you may remember from that boating video he made a while back, is into a bit of publlic shagging.
Allegendly Lee was relaxing in the Dune nightclub, New York, when he politely asked club staff if they’d object to him having full sex with a blonde on the dancefloor.
After being given the go-ahead, Lee whipped out his famous man sausage, his “mystery blonde” friend removed her knick-knocks, and they began rutting like sex-starved bunnies to the sound of pumping house music.
“They were flat out,” said a source. So, did anyone there have a video-phone? About time that yachting video got a sequel, we reckon.
Steve’s long-awaited and much anticipated DVD, Visual Sound Theories will be released through Sony/Epic on September 18, 2007. This DVD features the live performances from the Aching Hunger concerts with the Holland Metropole Orchestra in July 2005.

BringBackGlam.com: Let’s talk about your two new albums, “Sign Of The Times” which just came out, and your cover album [“Take Cover”] that’s due out later this fall. Why did you decide that QUEENSRŸCHE needed another greatest-hits package?
Geoff: “There’s so much stuff. It’s (‘Sign Of The Times’) a two-disc set, and it’s pretty cool actually. The first disc is songs most people would be familiar with? and our second disc is demos and unreleased material. Plus, there’s a new song on there that we wrote with our former guitar player Chris [DeGarmo] this summer. It’s called ‘Justified’. And the artwork is very cool. It’s Hugh Syme, he’s done some work for us before? it looks fantastic.”
Geoff: “We meet for coffee pretty regularly. When we have coffee, our conversations usually turn toward events that are going on with either ourselves, or the world. With him it sort of lead to a studio session.”
BringBackGlam.com: So Chris wanted a separate career, but he still enjoys making music?
Geoff: “I guess so. He doesn’t really like the touring aspect of being in a band. He does like the physical making of the music. We work together whenever we can.”
BringBackGlam.com: Do you think you’ll get together and make another album with Chris?
Geoff: “I think the two of us probably will.”
BringBackGlam.com: But not an entire QUEENSRŸCHE album ? just solo work?

California’s traditional melodic metal band CRESCENT SHIELD, which features the talents of former DESTINY’S END guitarist Dan DeLucie and former ONWARD vocalist Michael Grant, is nearing completion of songwriting for its sophomore record. The as-yet-untitled album “promises the same high quality songwriting, tight musicianship, and true metal spirit as their worldwide critically acclaimed debut ‘The Last of My Kind’ [2006],” according to a press release. “However, this time the band promises a more complex record with more intricate riffing, a powerful speedier approach, and more epic song structures while maintaining the strong melodic hooks and passionate delivery their fans have come to expect. Some of the song titles follow: ‘Lifespan’, ‘Under Cover of Shadows’, ‘10,000 Midnights Ago’, ‘The Grand Horizon’, ‘Temple of the Empty’ and ‘Tides of Fire’. Five of the songs have been recorded in demo form at the band?s home studio. The band plans to record the album sometime early next year with well-respected metal producer Bill Metoyer. The record will once again be released on Italian label Cruz Del Sur Music.”

AYREON, the brainchild of Dutch guitarist/composer Arjen Lucassen, has posted an audio sample of the next guest singer who will appear on the band’s upcoming album, tentatively due late 2007/early 2008: BLIND GUARDIAN frontman Hansi Kürsch. Other vocalists scheduled to appear on the CD include Steve Lee (GOTTHARD), Bob Catley (MAGNUM), Anneke van Giersbergen (THE GATHERING), Jonas P. Renske (KATATONIA), [B]Jorn Lande /B, Tom S. Englund (EVERGREY), Ty Tabor (KING’S X), Magali Luyten (VIRUS IV), Simone Simons (EPICA), Liselotte Hegt (DIAL), Phideaux Xavier and Floor Jansen (AFTER FOREVER). A total of fifteen singers have been confirmed to guest on the album, with more to be added.
AYREON’s last CD, “Ayreon: The Human Equation”, was released in 2004. It contained guest appearances by a number of acclaimed vocalists, including James LaBrie (DREAM THEATER), Mike Baker (SHADOW GALLERY), Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH), Eric Clayton (SAVIOUR MACHINE), Devon Graves (DEADSOUL TRIBE, ex-PSYCHOTIC WALTZ) and Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD).

OVERKILL: New Song Available For Download

The song comes off the group’s new album, “Immortalis”, due on October 9 via Bodog Music. The CD marks OVERKILL’s reunion with Jonny and Marsha Zazula, previous owners of Megaforce Records, the label responsible for putting metal on the map and bringing OVERKILL’s New Jersey thrash metal to the world. The Zazulas are now a part of the Bodog Music team in the United States.

"In October 1998, Liquid Tension Experiment reunited at Millbrook
Studios in upstate New York to record their 2nd album. A few
days into the sessions, John Petrucci’s pregnant wife went into
premature labor leaving Mike Portnoy, Jordan Rudess and Tony
Levin stranded in an already set-up and booked recording studio.
So like any creative and productive musicians would do, they
decided to stay and JAM… and JAM they did!
For some bizarre and still unexplained reason, the master tapes
of these jams were misplaced during the mixing process. But,
luckily, Portnoy records almost everything he ever does and as
a result his live 2-track stereo DAT mixes are the only remaining
traces of this historic jam. So what you have here is as live and
raw as it gets. No overdubs, no editing, no mixing.
Just 3 guys, their instruments and their spontaneous imaginations
feeding off of each other."
