Αυτήν την φορά θα διαβάσουμε για την περίοδο της πανδημίας και πως ο ιός τον έριξε σε κώμα. Κόντεψε να χάσει την ζωή του και είχε θέματα με την ακοή του…τι άλλο θα πάθει αυτός ο άνθρωπος πια.
Devil in coma ο τίτλος λοιπόν.
One blindingly bright morning in Ireland in March 2021, Mark Lanegan woke up and walked into the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee. Having gone completely deaf during the illness that had been slowly devouring his sick body, he found himself floored with cracked ribs unable to breathe. His body — burdened with a gigantic dose of COVID-19 — was quickly taken to Kerry Hospital with little hope of survival.
Slipping in and out of coma, Lanegan’s mind and body were left oscillating between life and death, unable to walk or function for several months. As his situation becomes more intolerable over the course of that bleakest of springs he is assaulted by nightmares, visions and regrets about a life lived on the edge of chaos and disorder. He is prompted to consider his predicament and how, in his sixth decade, his lifelong battle with mortality has led to this final banal encounter with a disease that has done for millions, when he has apparently been cheating death for his whole existence.
Written in vignettes of prose and poetry, DEVIL IN A COMA is a terrifying account of illness and the remorse that comes with it by an artist and writer with singular vision.
Σε άλλα και πιο μουσικά νέα, κυκλοφόρησε και βίντεο για το τραγούδι Living Dead από την συνεργασία του με τον Skeleton Joe (συμμετέχει και ο Duff McKagan).
Δεν ήταν ακριβώς και ο τελευταίος που περιμέναμε να πεθάνει, αλλά ναι, απότομο. Πέρσι είχε γαμηθεί με τον κόβιντ, κόντεψε να πεθάνει, είχε κουφαθεί κιόλας προσωρινά, το τελευταίο του βιβλίο λέει για αυτή ακριβώς την περιπέτεια.
Σκατά. Νιώθω τυχερός που έστω τον είδα live μια φορά.
Mad Season,Queens of the Stone Age, Screaming Trees, πόσοι ύμνοι, γαμώτο. Αυτή η μπασαδούρα και το γρέζι δε θα ξαναϋπάρξουν.
Υ.Γ. Κάπου το είχα ξαναγράψει αυτό σε κάποιον θάνατο: όταν μου φορτώνει η κεντρική του Rocking, για κάποιον λόγο αν δεν scroll-άρω βλέπω την κεντρική εικόνα (στην προκειμένη τη φάτσα του Lanegan), αλλά όχι τον τίτλο που βρίσκεται χαμηλότερα. Ε, στο 90% των περιπτώσεων που μπαίνει τόσο κεντρικά μία φάτσα είναι πάντα θάνατος (ή live στην Ελλάδα ξέρω 'γώ), και ήμουνα σε φάση: “ας είναι κάτι άλλο, please”.
Η Love τα έκανε μαντάρα (για μια ακόμη φορά). Ανέβασε αποχαιρετιστήριο ποστ στο ίνσταγκραμ με RIP αλλά και πολλά παράπονα για το πως ο Λάνεγκαν παρουσίασε την σχέση τους στο βιβλίο του. Το έσβησε μετά και απλώς το αντικατέστησε με “safe travels Lanegan”.

I co signed your mortgage. I put you in sober living for a year. I paid for 3 rehabs. & of course I never wanted or needed any public acknowledgment or thanks for it. And. I didn’t get it either! Lol. I heard you had a long covid bad death & im so sorry. Rest in power. I’d like to think you’d have come around & made up for your appalling rendition of me in your tome mark, wherever you are. Dropping the rocks”
