METAL HAMMER NORWAY
Disc 1:
Hardwired . This track we know well now, since it has already been out for over two months. It may have seemed a bit pointless to some as a single, but it seemed obvious that Metallica by releasing it as the first taster from the album have wanted to demonstrate that they are back with clenched fists and lots of energy. As the album opens works out the perfect, and the album’s shortest track is simply a refreshing blowout where guitars sounds like guitars, drums drumming and Metallica as a thrash band.
Atlas, Rise! This was released yesterday as the third single from the album, and has already gained a reputation as a favorite among fans online. With a beefy riffs that places itself somewhere between Kill 'Em All and NWOBHM (not least the Metalli-covers, Blitzkrieg of the band by the same name), this is a relatively straight-forward song, and although the pace is not as high as on track before, it is still hard and relatively quick, but catchy without being commercially or poppy.
Now That We’re Dead . Another delicious Hetfield riffs and tribal drums from Ulrich who obviously wants to distinguish itself again - and successfully - paves the way for a Metallica-groove on a song that probably will be an upcoming fan-favorite. The song has a simple structure and zero whistles or progressive twists and wins to keep it effective and tough!
Moth Into Flame . The album’s other singles, and the last song we’ve already managed to become familiar with. There are issues here that draws lines back to the first two plates, but it is simultaneously delightful melodic, not least the chorus. This song also comes truly into its own as part of the whole album.
Dream No More. This midtempo-song gives us a new and unexpected side of Hetfield from the start singing harmony vocals himself. Once again we get riffs that may seem deliberately self-referential, and this time they’ve borrowed a bit of reconstruction to Sad But True , without the plagiarist himself. We also hear us singing live on the chorus when James sings "You turn to stone!"
Halo on Fire . The last track on the disc 1 starts with a melodic riff that is relatively lie down and completely clean vocals without hint of the typical Hetfield-growling, but track moves sufficiently in strength that we can not call it a ballad. This takes a few more twists and turns than the majority of the others on the album, but without being at risk of losing control.
Disc 2.
Confusion . First song on disc 2 starts with a bombastic riffs and marching drums which largely underpins a text for what we can judge dealing with war and post-traumatic stress disorder, and bears thus a certain kinship to songs like Disposable Heroes . Maybe something anonymous at first listen, but with potential to grow as we get familiar with it.
ManUNkind . Only track not only signed Hetfield and Ulrich, but also Rob Trujillo. A near Iron Maidensk guitar / bass intro leading the way to a riff à la Load / Reload , which simply is not meant negatively. Refrain “Faith in manUNkind!” Hammered emphatic in, and the somewhat odd time signature will probably make this a challenge for all air-drummers out there!
Here Comes Revenge . Here we first served a riff reminiscent of Harvester of Sorrow , but interspersed with some new spices, before the chorus taking us back to the Leper Messiah . Again, these references more a nice round “spot the riff” for fans than copies of previous songs, but it’s fun to hear that they seem to have been inspired by their best discs.
Am I Savage? Really tough stuff, and the structure of this track makes it really sounds heavy as lead before we get a delicious riff crescendo in the chorus! It is almost so you could call it a kind of Metalli-blues, where James reverses out soul vocals wise, but it is obviously not blues musical sense. A høydare!
Murder One . This song has been duly discussed in advance, and is a tribute to Lemmy, who was both one of Metallica’s first and biggest inspirations and a close friend of the band. The text contains of course a number Motörhead allusions, and the track itself also acts as something one could have had by crossing the two bands.
Spit Out the Bone . Machine gun-barrels begins a whirlwind of a song that takes us out of the album in the same way as we entered: Sprint! In the classic manner, such Damage Inc . Did, closing thus the journey on rising intoxication, and we note that Metallica after the first listen definitely has delivered its most supple album in 20 years, and maybe 25! Thus, it is only to look forward to November 18, when we will have the opportunity to go album really closely, and find out about first impressions have been in excess characterized by bliss that Metallica is back in great shape or album actually and with better than at first listen when we have been properly acquainted with the songs!
Most important piece to take away is this "and we note that Metallica after the first listen definitely has delivered its most supple album in 20 years, and maybe 25! "
Κοινό σε όλες τις κριτικές είναι πως το πρώτο cd είναι εξαιρετικό, στο δεύτερο βρίσκεται το καλύτερο κομμάτι spit out the bone και το χειρότερο (murder one) και ροχνουν τις ταχύτητες (με εξαίρεση το spit).

Resenha: “Hardwired… To Self Destruct”, o novo álbum do Metallica
Here is a VERY quick translation of one of the most well rounded commentaries I´ve read so far:
Overall, “Hardwired …” is a heavy album, but not too fast. Those who expected something more like the earlyt Metallica had to wait a while, until the last song. Spit Out The Bone is in my humble opinion , the best song on the album. A shitload, heavy, fast from start to finish and at the same time original. Aside from the title track and, in a way, Moth Into Flame, what you got on this album is weight, dense guitars and, as described by a Spanish sitting next to me, more sinister music. (This Spanish before the start of the hearing explained to his colleague that Metallica and AC / DC are part of the five bands that defined heavy metal, so it´s wise to be suspicious.)
We can divide the album’s songs into groups: the group “speed,” Hardwired is a quick blow; Moth Into Flame is a blow a little more elaborate and long, and Spit Out The Bone. Here Comes Revenge appears in the notes as “heavy guitar, then accelerates.” I liked the music, until that moment the best that I still had not heard, but I can not tell if it enters in the heavy quick blow category . Similarly, Confusion pleased me, and the note was “heavy, not so slow,” followed by a “very Metallica and good.”
On the “weird music” come Atlas, Rise and Now That We’re Dead, about which I speak below, and ManUNkind, the one in which the bassist Robert Trujillo also appears as a composer - the others are all just Hetfield and Ulrich . And in the “heavy” category basically all other: heavy, slow and uneven. Dream No More is good, but not spectacular, and Halo on Fire, which improves at the end. Am I Savage is good, but dragged a bit, could last less. And Murder One is probably the best of the heaviest, with a melodic start wich is the only purely melodic thing of the whole disk.
It is quite difficult to comment on an album after hearing it for the first time, and without being able to hear it again, especially if you, like me, is doing it for the first time. Although I have taken notes at the end of the twelfth track the impressions on the first one are unfortunately already not so clear. The overall feel of the album, however, is: “Hardwired …” is a beautiful album, with some pretty good songs and they could be in any one of the best discs of the band. The result, however, is somewhat uneven, at least for my taste - and this is very important.
There were with me in the room three Brazilian journalists. In between the two disks, one and the other mentioned Atlas, Rise and Now That We’re Dead as the songs they liked more. They were the two I did not like. “Atlas …” is a stuck song that does not flow, does not evolve, and is very long. And Now That We’re Dead is quite strange. Doesn´t seems like Metallica, mixing a heavy rhythm guitar, a la Black Sabbath, with something lighter, almost pop. The result is weird. Toward the end, Ulrich drums seems to have been replaced by a drum machine. Not an easy song, and even so it may be a second or third auditions change my perception and opinion.
The first time I heard "St. Anger ", I thoughtd it sucked. I spent two years without hearing it again, untill i heard it again “unintentionally” and realized that, although not a brilliant album, is a solid and well resolved work. “Death Magnetic” took two or three listens to enter the playlist of every day. “Hardwired …” is more like “Death …” than for "St. Anger, "including with regard to the duration of some songs that could be shorter. However, it is an album that makes it worth the years of waiting.
More than 30 years after the start, Metallica is comfortable doing what it does, and does it better. The enthusiasm, the explosion will never be the same, because the news that existed in “Kill Them All”, for example, was even better because it was new. All albums of the band, however, including those who are not among the best, would be among the top ten of almost any other band.
“Hardwired …” it is not one of the best albums of Metallica, but will probably be one of the best records of the year. It is very impressive that, 30 years later, Ulrich, Hetfield and Hammett still able to produce music of this quality and relevance.
“It’s an album that makes it worth the years of waiting.”
Επειδή έχω χάσει λίγο την μπάλα τελευταία με αυτό το thread, δεν είμαι και πολύ σίγουρος αν είμαι on or off topic με τα παρακάτω αλλά… who gives a FUK?..
